Vincent van der Voort is through to the second
round at the
World Series of Darts Finals after seeing off
Joe Cullen in a brilliant
whitewash win.
Cullen was the favourite for the match due to his
PDC Autumn Series form but he struggled on the doubles hitting 0/8 against Van
der Voort. Both struggled themselves in the early going with
Van der Voort pinning double 1 to double his lead and he was soon surging
towards the win with a break of throw making it 4-0 with Cullen only averaging
82.
The interval was set at 5-0 as Cullen had a
mountain to climb to get back into the tie but he had no answer to the Dutchman
as he claimed a 14 darter for the win.
Cody Harris is also through to the second round where
a tie with Daryl Gurney awaits after seeing off an out of sorts
Dave Chisnall.
Harris only averaged 89 but didn’t have to produce
his best darts with Chisnall only averaging 79 with a 6-2 victory for ‘Code
Star’. The latter started with a 180 but missed two darts
at doubles and as a result, Harris hit the front with an instant break of throw.
He followed that up with an 11-darter doubling his advantage.
Chisnall levelled up though with a 119 checkout en
route to a 2-2 scoreline but more missed darts at double saw Harris lead 3-2.
He returned from the break hitting double 20 for a
two leg cushion at 4-2 and he was soon away and one from victory at 5-2 before
closing it out.
