Ashton glad to utilise opportunities after losing PDC Tour Card: "I'll play for as long as I can"

Lisa Ashton dealt with Paul Hogan and Larry Butler on Saturday to secure her place in the last eight at the World Seniors Matchplay.

This ahead of another World Matchplay in the PDC later this month and she spoke about her pride in playing in Blackpool.

“My game is really good and my finishing has all kicked in so hopefully we can keep going and I’ll do my best. To get on stage, it’s match practice for me (ahead of Blackpool) as we’ve not had a lot but hopefully I can take this and carry on into Blackpool,” said Ashton to Online Darts.

“It’s a dream for me, I’ve always wanted to play there. Hopefully I can just play my game and enjoy everything that’s there.

Ashton lost her PDC Tour Card at the beginning of this season after she failed to secure a top-64 position in the Order of Merit in the 2020-2021 period. This allowed her to participate in these tournaments.

“I’ll play for as long as I can and keep the level. I am just enjoying the opportunities I’ve got, that’s what you have to do. I was gutted when I lost it (Tour Card) but the opportunities I’ve got and what’s available, it’s good for me at my age and I’m going to try and take everything in what I can do.”
