Richie Howson produced a brilliant display to see off Darryl Fitton and book his place in the second round of the World Seniors Darts Championship.
"To be honest after the first set, I missed a lot of doubles and I thought I'd blown it to be fair but I found my scoring boots a bit and hit a few doubles when I needed to," he said to Live Darts.
He had a lot of crowd support only just living down the road and was indebted to them for helping him across the line.
"I probably wouldn't have won without them, it was a bit overwhelming. I've played here on local comps but not on the stage and it's an iconic venue, I remember watching the World Championship a few years ago and it's lovely to come up and play on it."
Next up is Martin Adams tonight and Howson believes he's got the game but it is all about producing it when it matters.
"I've definitely got the gears, whether they come out or not who knows but I can definitely play better than that.
"It's just going to be extremely hard to get past him but I'm not here to make the numbers up. You've got to play the best to be the best."
