Schedule and preview Friday evening session 2022 World Seniors Darts Matchplay including Taylor, Painter, Lowe and Gulliver

While not a stage where legends played and darting history was made like the Circus Tavern and Lakeside, a new iteration in the World Seniors story will be written this weekend (1-3 July) at the Bonus Arena in Hull.

When the clock strikes seven, it's 'Tungsten Time' once more with the inaugural World Seniors Darts Matchplay starting on Friday evening.

It all begins with two of the most successful female players and overall title wise of all time in 'The Golden Girl' Trina Gulliver MBE fresh off success on the Women's Series with a chance to play at the Women's World Matchplay not achieved due to not playing in the prior weekend.

But she will take to the oche in Hull with her sights set on a tie with Phil Taylor to end the evening in the best of 15 format.

Her opponent is Deta 'The Heart of Darts' Hedman who will be looking to star after priorly playing on the Lakeside stage during her last appearance which saw her continue to struggle in Frimley Green against Colin Monk off the back of being defeated early at the WDF World Championship against Tori Kewish.

Second up is a player who is always super passionate not only on the stage but also in his preparation being Keith 'Mr 138' Deller who will face a potentially tricky opener with Colin McGarry making his World Seniors debut.

Previous stage experience at the World Championship and Grand Slam of Darts in the PDC, he has been superb on the World Seniors Tour and he will hope to send Deller packing early in Hull and make the trip over from Northern Ireland worth it.

John Lowe again is set to play this time against Kevin Painter after the former played Les Wallace last time and took a few legs but only due to missed doubles. 'The Artist' will hope to brush 'Old Stoneface' aside and move on but Lowe will have other ideas as he searches for his first World Seniors win.

While like alluded to, 'The Power' will end the night. After reaching the final of the World Seniors Masters last time out, he will be itching to seal his first title and he will start against Gulliver or Hedman with the potential of Peter Manley once more in the next round or John Part, two former rivals.
