Devon Petersen took the title at the ADC Global Championship last weekend. It was the first time the Amateur Darts Circuit (ADC) hosted this prestigious tournament.
Players from around the world could qualify for the ADC Global Championship through various ranking systems, which was played in the same studio as the MODUS Super Series.
After the preliminaries were done, the remaining players began the final week of the ADC Global Championship last week. Petersen then managed to be the first player to qualify for the final day. 'The African Warrior' was then joined by Adam Mould, Shane Hayward, Charlie Martin, Marvin van Velzen and Gary Stone.
The final day featured six darters across two groups of three players each. In Group A, Hayward managed to win his best group duels by defeating Mould (4-3) and Martin (4-2). Martin won the mutual duel against Mould 4-3.
Petersen remained unbeaten in Group B. The South African took care of Stone (4-2), before also beating Van Velzen 4-3. Van Velzen advanced to the semifinals as number two of the second group after a 4-3 victory over Stone.
Van Velzen then won 4-2 over Hayward in the first semifinal, after which Petersen also secured a spot in the final. He prevailed 4-0 against Martin. Petersen was then too strong for Van Velzen in the final 4-2, giving Petersen the top prize of 25,000 pounds.
