Lisa Ashton is officially a PDC Tour Card holder and a History Maker in her own right after a dramatic fourth day of action at the 2020 PDC UK Q-School.
Ashton lost early on in the day having previously put herself in a good position to build on her points total meaning a lot of waiting around was in store for ‘The Lancashire Rose’.
At one point it seemed like she would similar to last year miss out by one point but it was Nick Kenny who remains in the tournament who provided Ashton with the lifeline she needed.
He had to beat Stephen Burton for Ashton to win a card; as if Burton would have beat the Welshman, he would have won a card and Ashton would have needed someone ahead of her to win outright such as Wayne Jones or Adam Hunt.
She can now look forward to two years on the PDC Tour; after becoming only the third woman to hold a Tour Card after Stacy Bromberg and Tricia Wright previously held them in 2011.
This came after they reached the final of the 2010 PDC Ladies World Championship; which was only organised once.
It represents another history making moment for Ladies Darts after the exploits of Fallon Sherrock at the Alexandra Palace and sees Ashton produce once again after the heartbreak of missing out by such a narrow margin last year.
