Finlay Williams
Finlay Williams is currently completing his final year of secondary education and already demonstrates the ambition, curiosity, and dedication we value in emerging sports journalists. With a clear goal to pursue full-time work in sports media, Finlay brings a particular depth of knowledge in darts—his standout area of expertise—but also shows strong insight across football (as a lifelong Aberdeen FC supporter), motorsports, cricket, and curling, a sport in which he competed at a high level during his junior years.
His passion for sport is matched by an instinctive feel for storytelling. Whether diving into the personalities of darts icons like Steve Beaton and Andy Boulton, or following football leagues across the globe—with a special interest in the Bundesliga—Finlay approaches coverage with both humour and a keen editorial eye.
He is currently gaining practical experience as a Media Intern with Scottish Curling, where he is also co-producing the organisation’s upcoming podcast alongside their Digital Lead. In addition, he writes his own Substack blog, For Darts Sake, which showcases his ability to balance narrative flair with factual grounding—qualities that align well with DN’s editorial ethos.
Finlay has expressed a strong interest in liveblogging, and we believe his style—story-driven, well-researched, and engaging—makes him a promising addition to our team. We look forward to supporting his development as a young journalist and helping him sharpen his voice within a professional sports media environment.
