Mario Vandenbogaerde became the first player to reach the last 16 at the BDO World Championship in the Indigo at the O2. The Belgian defeated Sebastian Steyer in straight sets.
Vandenbogaerde only dropped two legs against Steyer, who managed to take out 137, while his opponent finished 89, 72 and 64 en route to an easy victory. He will face Nick Kenny or Dennie Olde Kalter in his next game. .
Justin Thompson came through his opening round match as he defeated Scott Williams 3-0. The latter missed too many darts on the doubles, as the experience helped 50-year-old Thompson to move into the second round.
