Damon Heta wins Australian Open Darts after defeating BDO stars

Damon Heta claimed victory in the inaugural BDO Australian Open in New South Wales defeating Scott Mitchell in the final in what was a thrilling tournament.

Heta had good match practice ahead of the World Series of Darts coming up shortly where he will be one of the star names from Down Under taking on the PDC's best.

He saw off Justin Thompson in a 6-4 win, followed by Jim Williams 8-1 before seeing off 'Scotty Dog' in a closely ran 10-9 victory. In terms of the ladies, it was Lisa Ashton who took the honours.

'The Lancashire Rose' edged out current World Champion, Mikuru Suzuki in a hotly anticipated clash. She did it in style too being 6-4 down before taking the next 3 legs in 42 darts including a 139 checkout in an excellent performance.
