Onto the 2006 BDO World Darts Championship and it was a special one from a Dutch perspective with Jelle Klaasen facing Raymond van Barneveld in the final.
Klaasen successfully defeated Dennis Harbour (3-2), Mervyn King (4-2), Paul Hogan (5-4) and Shaun Greatbatch (6-3) on the way to the final. Van Barneveld saw off the likes of Gary Anderson (4-1), Tony O'Shea (5-3) and Martin Adams (6-2).
The final was then won 7-5 by Klaasen who at 21 is still the youngest World Champion and in coming through the Qualifier, he was the first player since Keith Deller in 1983 to achieve this feat.
