Dave Chisnall is through to the Quarter-Finals after edging past Daryl Gurney in a tight battle to begin the second night of action at The Masters.

Chisnall was wearing new glasses and it didn’t cause him many issues with him hitting nine 180’s and a 93 average in a 10-8 win; despite only using them since Wednesday. Next up will be Peter Wright or Joe Cullen.

Chisnall had a superb start and despite not hitting his stride in his opening visit leaving the commentators potentially questioning his choice to wear spectacles, he slammed in a 100 checkout to lead.

It was very close though to begin the tie with Chisnall moving ahead just with a 3-2 lead despite taking a break in the next leg but this was soon cancelled out.

He broke again to lead 4-2 with a 74 checkout and he was up at 4/7 on his doubles and held his throw to lead 5-2 and put doubts in the mind of Gurney.

He answered those though making inroads with a 117 checkout en route to trailing 5-4 with a break of throw and at the next break, he responded to make it parity at 5-5 with three consecutive legs.

Chisnall once again reestablished a two leg cushion to make it 7-5 after Gurney missed three darts at double. Could he see it out?

Gurney was fighting though and pinned a brilliant 128 checkout to trail 7-6. It was parity again as a result with Gurney hitting a 72 checkout and this was repeated with it going to 8-8.

Despite that though it was missed chances that blighted Gurney again with him missing chances to send it to a decider and Chisnall moved through a 10-8 winner. Could his new spectacles prove a winning addition this weekend?
