Kirk Shepherd has caused a shock second round win over Rob Cross at the Danish Darts Open in Copenhagen.
The former World Championship finalist started with an immediate break of throw as he landed the bullseye for a superb 81 finish. Shepherd then took out 78 to double his lead, before he hit double 16 to move 3-0 up.
Cross hit back with a 11-darter and a 13-dart leg, but blew up a chance to level the match. Shepherd kept the advance and produced a 14-darter in the tenth leg to seal the win. The Wiltshire ace will face Chris Dobey in the third round on Sunday afternoon.
Gerwyn Price moved into the third round after a narrow 6-4 victory over Ryan Harrington. The latter came back from a 4-1 and 5-3 deficit to 5-4 and left 59 after nine darts in the tenth leg. However Price managed to hold his throw with a stunning 144 finish to reach the final day of action in Denmark.
