Fallon Sherrock ready for Duzza test at Premier League Darts
The next stage on Fallon Sherrock's rise to stardom is a Premier League bow. Sherrock will take on Glen Durrant as a 'contender' in Nottingham.
Sherrock made headlines around the world back in December, when she became the first woman to win a PDC World Darts Championship match. The Milton Keynes ace earned plaudits after seeing off Ted Evetts and Mensur Suljovic, and has become in demand for exhibitions and PDC tournaments. The 25-year-old was drafted in by the PDC to appear among the Premier League Darts contenders.
Speaking to Live Darts in Nottingham, Sherrock shared her thoughts on the Premier League, and recent exhibition appearances in Europe which have helped her prepare.
"It's becoming for real now. I can't wait to play on another of the biggest stages there is, against Glen Durrant - I'm so excited, I can't wait to get up there and play my game."
"The exhibitions are all massive, so it's great prep going into the Premier League for the sheer mass of people and atmosphere, and playing these players as well.
"I can't wait to play the better players again!"
The former women's world finalist will be heavily in the public eye beyond her Premier League outing. As well as exhibitions, Sherrock will appear in all World Series events including the US Darts Masters at Madison Square Gardens, and has qualified for the UK Open.
The whirlwind of her darting ascent hasn't yet swept the Buckinghamshire thrower away.
"I haven't had a lot of time to reflect. I've been taking little bits in...it's slowly creeping up on me. I'm really proud of what I've done.
"I always walk with my hood up now. I can't even go to the shop now without makeup on because people recognise me!"
Sherrock has got this far through a healthy dose of self-belief, along with natural talent. That belief is still evident; she is certain that she will continue to cause problems for the best players. The likes of Rob Cross have used the Challenge Tour as a springboard, and that's the route Sherrock will look to take as well.
"I feel I could go quite far. With all this experience I'm getting, I just need to improve on my stamina a little bit.
"I'm more than happy to think I can push these better players. Hopefully now, with all the opportunities I'm getting, I can show everyone I can do it. So who knows how far I can go in this game?
"I've got to try and do as many Challenge Tours as I can. I've also got to fit in my exhibitions, and my normal competitions.
"Hopefully I'll get through a couple of rounds, if not win one [Challenge Tour event]."
