World Darts Federation (WDF) announce ranking system for 2021

At the start of the year, the World Darts Federation (WDF) came out with big plans and announced a new ranking system but these plans were shelved for this year due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

The WDF have now altered this system ahead of 2021. Tournaments will be split globally into 'Platinum', 'Gold', 'Silver' and 'Bronze' categories.

The first tournament where Platinum points will be available is the Dutch Open. In that tournament, a total of more than 30,000 euros in prize money will be available.

Each of the ‘Gold’ tournaments in 2021 will have a minimum prize fund of €17,000. For a ‘Silver’ event, there will be a minimum prize fund of €7,000.

The WDF have also continued their commitment to running a World Championship and World Masters. All winners in Platinum and Gold tournaments will receive an automatic place for the former.

Qualifying for the World Masters will be awarded to semi-finalists in Gold tournaments, finalists in Silver and winners of Bronze tournaments. They also hope to announce more events in Europe, Asia, Oceania and North America in the coming weeks.
