The future is bright with 13-year-old
Jayden Walker who starred on Saturday at an exhibition in Epsom taking a famous win over
Stephen Bunting and also pushing both
Nathan Aspinall and
Michael van Gerwen to the limit.
With it being a weekend off with no darting action before ProTours early next week followed by the
European Darts Grand Prix in Sindelfingen next weekend, top darting names are using their time off accordingly and are playing more darts.
Many have been in action this weekend in
exhibitions including Van Gerwen, Aspinall and Bunting who played alongside Jayden Walker in Epsom last night. Van Gerwen had starred the day prior in Purfleet
defeating both Ricky Evans and Nathan Aspinall.
Mixed fortunes for big names against rising talent
Previously Walker hit the headlines for hitting a 145 checkout during the MODUS Super Series Influencer Exhibition tournament and gave it the Adrian Lewis shrug. Luke Humphries is a fan of the rising talent speaking highly of him last year.
"That was the first time I've ever met him but I'm pretty sure that's the best 12-year-old darts player I've ever seen in my life," said Humphries as per
Sky Sports.
"The things he was doing on the practice board was quite impressive and when he went up on the stage during his first walk-on, you could see he was a bit nervous, but he still whacked in a 102 average. If he can do that under pressure, I can't image what he's going to be like in five or six years.
"You've got a new star on your hands now, but it's important the media don't push him too much because he's still very young and he needs to be nurtured. For a 12-year-old to be doing that, it just shows this new generation coming through is going to be special."
Stephen Bunting lost to rising 13-year-old.
To start the evening in Epsom, Bunting was the first winner taking down Nathan Aspinall 3-2 before MVG took down Walker in a 3-1 win to begin his night and he took to the microphone to give him praise saying there is already a little guy making his life difficult on the tour and so he doesn't want another one of course referring to Littler.
Bunting then had the task of facing Walker and in his case he lost out in a 3-2 win for the young gun but he didn't defeat Aspinall who ran out a 4-2 winner. Another close ran game though with Aspinall also praising him to the crowd.
Albeit Bunting got his own back of sorts not on Walker but with another win as he took down Michael van Gerwen 5-1 to end the night in Epsom.
