From today through Saturday, the
MODUS Super Series features “International Pairs Week.” Twelve nations, each represented by a duo, go head-to-head for the title.
Four former world champions in the field
Plenty of star power is heading to Portsmouth for this International Pairs Week. All eyes are on England, represented by former BDO world champion
Steve Beaton and
Fallon Sherrock.
Beaton is not the only former world champion taking part in International Pairs Week.
Richie Burnett — the 1995 BDO world champion — teams up with Kurt Parry for Wales. Belgium also brings a former world champion to the oche.
Andy Baetens — the 2023 WDF world champion — pairs up with Brian Raman.
The fourth former world champion competing at International Pairs Week is Neil Duff. The Northern Irishman forms a duo with compatriot Richard McKee.
There is also interest in former PDC Tour Card holder Jeff Smith. The Canadian partners with compatriot Dawson Murschell. The USA are also in the mix with the duo of Danny Baggish and Danny Lauby. The Netherlands, meanwhile, are represented by brothers Danny and Wesley van Trijp.
Ireland start as defending champions
Ireland enter the tournament as defending champions. As in the previous edition, they are represented by John O’Shea and Conor Heneghan.
Also competing at this International Pairs Week are France (Iain Cash and Nicolas Thuillier), Kenya (David Munyua and Peter Wachiuri), Scotland (Scott Campbell and Jim McEwan), and Germany (Paul Krohne and Daniel Klose).
The first three days feature a five-team group, with the winner advancing directly to Saturday’s finals day. On Thursday and Friday, two new groups will be formed, producing five more finalists who will battle for the title on Saturday.
