The World Grand Prix started off not only with the news of Gary Anderson's late withdrawal but a win for Alan Norris to potentially grab a second round game against Michael Van Gerwen in the double start format.
Norris faced Justin Pipe in a match between two men not in the greatest of form. Pipe got away early on and held his throw hitting tops and followed that up with a sensational 170 checkout to double his lead in style.
Pipe though couldn't finish off the first set missing three darts allowing Norris to take out D18 to go only a leg behind. Pipe finally closed the set out making up for mistakes from Norris to take out 64 to seal it 3-1.
Alan Norris started off the first leg with a 104 checkout to get back into the match. Pipe missed the 170 but came back to hit D8 to hold. Pipe then broke the throw hitting tops to go within 1 of the match at 2-1 up. Chuck though saved himself by hitting a 101 checkout to break back.
Norris came back with another ton plus checkout taking out 102 to win the second set and send it into sudden death. After 3 ton plus checkouts, Chuck hit D1 to go 1 up in the decider. Norris kept up his romp towards victory hitting a 25 checkout to go within 1. Pipe held in a brilliant leg for the Force but Norris secured the victory to come from behind to reach round 2.
