This is the biggest shock so far in the tournament and was well deserved on the part of Alcinas picking up the win. The first set began with Alcinas pinching the set in a decider. This was despite Wright seemingly bursting into life with a sensational 167 bull checkout. The Spaniard hit back with a ton plus of his own with a 109 checkout sealing the set. Wright was in further trouble in this the next set with Alcinas winning the set 3-1 with a 13 darter and he was teetering on the edge of heading out. ‘Snakebite’ came back in a set win which included a ten darter which seemed to potentially wrestle back control for Wright. In the final set, Wright was two-one up and potentially sending it to a deciding set but Alcinas took out 78 to make it two-all. He then streaked ahead in the final leg to pick up the win and one that he described after as his second best career win. for more information about the PDC World Darts Championship, including schedules and the prize fund breakdown.
