Smith as a result dispelled the chance of another fairytale tournament for ‘The Singapore Slinger’. He averaged 91, two 180’s and hit fifty percent on his doubles with a high checkout of 138. The first set went to the deciding leg but it was checkouts of 70, 67 and 106 from Smith that were the difference between the pair. Smith just kept getting better and better and streaked to a two leg lead in the next set. This included a classy 138 checkout from the Deal ace. He took full control of the tie from there gaining another leg to go to two-nil up in sets. Lim though wouldn’t give up and grabbed the third set in consecutive legs to ask the question of ‘Smudger’. Smith though made sure he answered it though in the final set with a brilliant 84 checkout on the bull a highlight. He will face Daryl Gurney, the most recent major winner in Round Two, having played brilliantly in his win over Lim. for more information about the PDC World Darts Championship, including schedules and the prize fund breakdown.
