Anderson ready for World Matchplay after Vegas success: “If I turn up and play my game like I did in Vegas, I'll be fine”

Gary Anderson is well known for not playing his best darts at the World Matchplay which he admits but for him he will take it game by game and see how it goes.

Anderson has said that with it not being his favourite tournament he is at a disadvantage as a lot of players do hold it in high regard so are up for it more. He faces Stephen Bunting first round on as a bumper week of darting action begins in Blackpool. "It's well-documented that it's not one of my favourite tournaments but I'll see how it goes," said Anderson, who has starred at the World Matchplay every year since making his debut in 2009. ''I've played some good stuff and then some terrible stuff, so it's going to be interesting to see what happens. Nowadays every round in every tournament is hard, but the World Matchplay is a lot of the boys' favourite and they're there to win, so it does make it harder." Anderson will play Stephen Bunting on Sunday night who has been rejuvenated as of late but for the former multiple world Champion he admits that if he plays like he did in Vegas he will be fine. "Stephen is a great player and it is good to see him back to near his best," Anderson added. "If I turn up and play my game like I did in Vegas, I'll be fine. If I turn up like I did (in Shanghai) we'll see what happens, but I'm looking forward to it though."
