Gary Anderson sees off Gerwyn Price in Masters quarter-finals

The Flying Scotsman fired in seven maximums in a 10-7 victory over the Welshman. It was always likely to be a tetchy affair. Before their last meeting, Anderson labelled Price "a circus clown". The needle continued in the Milton Keynes meeting. After the Scot opened up with a spectacular 150 checkout, leg two began with six perfect darts. There was then a minor altercation between the two, as Anderson felt his opponent had encroached on the exclusion zone. There was no nine-darter, but there was a 64 finish to go 2-0 up.
Price battled back to 2-2, and then lead 4-3 thanks to a 104 checkout. But Anderson restored parity and broke the Price throw to take charge. A 107 finish kept the Iceman's hopes alive, but Anderson was too strong for the 12th seed. Tops wrapped up the win with a 94.38 average. The Scot's form was undoubtedly affected by the back pain that has been bothering him for some time. He will take on Michael van Gerwen or James Wade in the semi-finals.
"If you can't beat a man with a bad back, you better go back to the practice board," Anderson jibed afterwards.
