Anderson smashes Smith in outstanding display to open proceedings in Rotterdam

Gary Anderson sent a message to the chasing pack in his first game of two tonight by smashing Michael Smith 7-2 in a display that including a brilliant 138 checkout to win.
Smith didn't start well and in double quick time was punished by the Flying Scotsman. Anderson went 5-1 up with Smith only getting one more leg. Mid range finishes showed how on form the 2x World Champion is with him overseeing a procession and now he will hope to replicate that against Cross later in the Premier League Darts.
In addition, Anderson showed his form as well averaging a stunning 109 in a great performance; it also included four 180’s and 70% on the doubles as he collects 2 valuable points.

He had a lucky run at Blackpool and even luckier at the World Championship and is still living off that. - I'm a big Huybretchs fan from when he broke through at the euros in the early days, but his action has gone. So jerky and inconsistent. Looking at where he'll be in the rankings, hopefully he can treat the new year as a new start, relax, enjoy it and push on without the pressure of defending lots of ££BandB12-12-2025
