BDO 2018 Finder Darts Masters preview – Saturday afternoon session

The BDO Finder Darts Masters continues with the Saturday afternoon session in Egmond aan Zee.
Martin Adams, a two-time Finder Darts Masters champion, hasn't lifted the trophy for 18 years. The BDO legend will need to beat Chris Landman to keep his hopes of glory alive. Kevin Lasker meets Jurjen van der Velde in the youth event, before a mammoth clash in Group G. Scott Waites will be heading home without a win over reigning BDO world champion Glen Durrant.
Top women's seed Deta Hedman kicks off against Astrid Trouwborst. Then Richard Veenstra takes on Welsh ace Dean Reynolds on home soil. Lars Plaisier meets Nathan Girvan, with last year's youth finalist on the verge of crashing out early. Top men's seed Jim Williams will want to start his campaign in style against Jeffrey van Egdom.
Scott Mitchell and Daniel Day then meet in an all-English clash. Aileen de Graaf has appeared in four of the last five Finder Darts Masters finals. The two-time champion needs another title to match Anastasia Dobromyslova's tally. Victory over compatriot Sharon Prins would be a good start towards that target.
Derk Telnekes takes on the behemoth that is Martijn Kleermaker, before Mark McGeeney meets Michael Unterbuchner in an intriguing clash. Willem Mandigers closes the afternoon's play, against Tony O'Shea.

- I agree. There needs to be a points system and preferably just a rolling one year. World Championship should earn the most points though it can be argued that the current qualification system does see a fair few players qualify from regional country qualifiers who would struggle to hold down a place on the Pro Tour. If prize money won is going to remain as the determining factor for ranking then the World Championship should just consist of the 128 Tour Card Holders. Another option would be to take the World Championship out of the rankings and have it as the stand alone pinnacle that you qualify for by winning certain tournaments or your ranking position, sort of like a GSOD+.Mysstree05-04-2025
