The race to Lakeside and the BDO World Championship is hotting up.

No information has been released on the 2019 World Championship just yet. But it's starting to look like Andy Hamilton and Wes Newton are both in line for a potential Lakeside spot. That's despite the two former PDC major finalists being part of the BDO for less than a year.
The duo currently sit outside the provisional qualification spots. The top 27 qualify for the World Championship at the end of the year, where they're joined by 13 playoff qualifiers.
Mark McGeeney currently holds top spot in the rankings. With world champion Glen Durrant picking and choosing his tournaments, McGeeney will most likely retain the top spot.
Jim Williams and Scott Mitchell follow in third and fourth. Gary Robson, who had to enter in the preliminary round last time out, is fifth.
Dave Parletti is currently in line to be eighth seed after a run of points-boosting performances which may also see him qualify for the Grand Slam. The postman remains under firm pressure from Lakeside semi-finalist Michael Unterbuchner, however.
As well as Newton and Hamilton, the likes of James Hurrell, Nick Kenny and Richie Edwards sit just outside qualification. Darius Labanauskas is the closest to grabbing a Lakeside berth, but as a likely entrant for the PDC World Championship, the Lithuanian will probably not be involved even if he is offered a Lakeside spot.
