The European Tour finally returns after an absence between 28-30 August, 2026 with the Hungarian Darts Trophy set to take place at the MVM Dome in the city of Budapest, Hungary.

The Hungarian Darts Trophy will be the eleventh of fifteen PDC European Tour events on the 2026 PDC ProTour and will feature a field of 48 players and £230,000 in prize money with £35,000 for the winner. Niko Springer is defending champion having sealed the title in 2025 defeating Danny Noppert in the final to become the latest German European Tour winner.
It sees a return to action with ProTours going into the European Tour after the big names had a sojourn to Australia and New Zealand for the World Series. Beau Greaves also makes history by becoming the first woman to compete on the European Tour as her incredible year continues.
Luke Humphries, Gian van Veen, Michael van Gerwen, Jonny Clayton and Gerwyn Price as well as Gary Anderson are involved. Luke Littler as ever has decided against playing and has been on holiday as of late in America albeit has signalled that he will play ProTours in a bid to qualify for Minehead and has signed up for some European Tours towards the end of the season.

When is the draw confirmed for Hungarian Darts Trophy 2026?
The draw will be confirmed on the Thursday prior to the tournament starting so in this case 27th August at around 12pm BST/13 CET and will see the top 16 ProTour players face the qualifiers. The big names come in during round two.

The schedule will be confirmed for the Hungarian Darts Trophy soon after the draw, with the tournament split into two sessions a day of Friday, Saturday and Sunday with the final day seeing the third round, Quarter-Finals, Semi-Finals and Final.

Predictions Hungarian Darts Trophy 2026
Samuel Gill, Head Editor for DartsNews.com has picked James Wade to win the title.
I see James Wade winning the title with Luke Humphries and Jonny Clayton also up there. I also pick Beau Greaves to have a good run on her debut weekend.
Wade for me was class in Australia and didn't play this past week so has recovered. While Humphries is in good form so I see him doing the opposite having played well.
I also see Martin Schindler after some great averages this past week sealing a good run.

For me, Luke Humphries is the clear favourite to win in Hungary this weekend. With players like Luke Littler and Gerwyn Price absent, and given that he clinched a floor title this week, I reckon he’ll carry that form into the European Tour.
Speaking of maintaining good form, Jermaine Wattimena could well go far too. He’s a seeded player and faces either Andrew Gilding or Milan Biro in the second round – opponents he’s certainly capable of beating. If he manages to get into his rhythm on Sunday, he could well prove a threat.
Other names I’m expecting quite a lot from are Wessel Nijman and Jonny Clayton. Both players have been in very good form for some time now and are therefore always title contenders in tournaments of this kind. Naturally, I’m also looking forward to Beau Greaves’ Euro Tour debut, although I think she hasn’t drawn the most ideal opponent in Rob Cross and that she’s going to find it very tough. Incidentally, if Cross wins, I wouldn’t rule out the possibility of him reaching the final on Sunday either.

Especially with Luke Littler and Gerwyn Price absent, Luke Humphries is the clear favourite for me to claim the title in Hungary. ‘Cool Hand Luke’ also showed that he is in good form last Tuesday by winning the title at Players Championship 28.
Another player who is in fine form is James Wade, who impressively claimed the title at the Australian Darts Masters. If ‘The Machine’ can bring that same level back to Europe, he will certainly be in contention for titles this autumn. I also expect a strong showing from Gian van Veen, who is slowly but surely beginning to rediscover his best form after a difficult spring.
Wessel Nijman certainly cannot be overlooked either, having already won two European Tour titles this year. Jermaine Wattimena is another Dutchman who heads to Hungary in excellent form. ‘The Machine Gun’ won Players Championship 27 as recently as last Monday.
As an outsider, I am tipping Nathan Aspinall. For one reason or another, ‘The Asp’ has consistently produced strong performances on the European Tour over the past two seasons.

- I loved Jan and loved his walk on music "Explode" by Jordan & Baker. I think if he stuck around the BDO he definitely would have been World Champion, should have won in 2014, he never really showed any of his talent in the PDC. I remembered he worked in a bank or in finance and maybe that was his priority, he was also a fan and interested in magic. Definitely should have achieved much more in darts than he did.
