Brian Raman became the fifth Belgian player to qualify for the UK Open, as the 22-year-old from Antwerp won one of the Rileys Qualifiers.

Raman tells his remarkable story in an interview with . ''I noticed I was practicing very well and that led to my decision to play some Rileys Qualifiers in the United Kingdom.'' ''I was not very sure I would qualify for the UK Open, but gained more confidence after winning my quarter-final on Sunday. At the end I only lost six legs during the day, which gives me even more confidence.'' The Belgian faces José de Sousa in the . ''I have never played him before, but I'm sure it will be a nice match. I'm a positive person and I'm enjoying the darts. We will see if it's turns out well for me.'' Raman is also playing on the PDC Development Tour, where he qualified for the World Youth Championship last year. ''It was and it's still is a good learning school for me. Either it makes you mentally stronger, or it breaks you. Last year I had a few bad months, but I came back stronger. My management inspired me to have another go.'' Finally we asked to the future plans of the young star from Belgium. ''My short term plan is to play consistent on a good level. I want to make the top eight of the Development Tour ranking at the end of this season. My long term plan is to settle down in the PDC to make my passion my profession.''
