Corey Cadby races into maiden major final at the UK Open

The former world youth champion thrashed the Welshman 11-3 to complete the UK Open final line-up. A 99.9 average and a 50 per cent doubles success rate helped secure the most straightforward win of the final day of play. Cadby will play Gary Anderson, with the winner claiming £70,000 and the second major title of the season. Tops was the King's friend in the first session, as he established a 5-0 advantage. When he finally missed double 20, double 10 came to his rescue for a 90 finish.
Cadby averaged close to 100 throughout, while Owen's average languished in the 80s. The former European Tour quarter-finalist seemed to have gone a step too far in his best ever TV tournament run. UK Open Qualifying 5 champion Cadby piled on the pressure, taking a 9-0 lead against his beleaguered opponent. But Owen rounded off the second session with tops to guarantee that there would be no whitewash.
The match, mostly a tame affair, ended with fireworks. The Aussie checked out 124 on the bull. Stack Attack struck back, following a maximum with a 120 finish. He then broke throw to make it 10-3, but the damage was already done. Cadby missed two match darts, but made no mistake with the third. Now only one man stands between him and a maiden major title. That man is Anderson, the two-time world champion, who beat David Pallett 11-7 in Minehead.
