Chisnall and Van Gerwen produce comebacks as Lewis pinches Nicholson’s pocket

Dave Chisnall experienced a complete turn around in fortune against Ian White. The St. Helens ace opened the encounter hitting Just 1/8 on the doubles, scorning chances in nearly every single leg.

But at 5-2 down, with his back against the wall, Chisnall reeled off 4 consecutive legs and set up a last 8 match up with world number 1 Michael van Gerwen. The Englishman helping himself to a 107 average along the way!
Chizzy finds himself in a battle to be paired with Rob Cross for the World Cup, and the victory keeps him on the heels of Michael Smith and James Wade.
Mighty Mike experienced a comeback himself, all being a slightly smaller one.
The Dutchman trailed 2-0 to Webster before fighting back.
The pair traded breaks of throws throughout, but ultimately it was Van Gerwen who progresses once again on the Euro Tour.
Webster’s 100 average and 5/7 on the doubles still not enough to take out the world number 1. The win keeps Van Gerwen in the hunt for his 23rd Euro tour title. Dave Chisnall stands in his way in the next round.
In the third match of the day, Jamie Lewis stole the deciding leg from Paul Nicholson to progress to the quarter finals. Nicholson led the encounter the entire way, as the first 10 legs all went with throw. Lewis afforded a chance just once to break The Asset.
Nicholson was by far the more aggressive, forcing looks to break the World Semi-Finalist. But couldn’t force a shot to break.
Ultimately his scoring let him down in the last leg, as Lewis edged in front, and then held off the adopted Australian.
Lewis will now face the winner of Michael Smith Vs Jermaine Wattimena
