Michael Smith once again found a way to win on the Euro tour as he battles with illness.
Bully boy defeated Jermaine Wattimena 6-3 to progress to the quarter finals, and will need to rest well in the next few hours before the quarters.
A 98 average and 50% on the doubles getting him through this one.
Dutchman Danny Noppert will be joining Smith in the final session. He overcame a classy Peter Wright, surviving match darts to clinch the deciding leg.
Noppert did lead the encounter 4-2, but former UK open champion Wright fought his way back into the match, and into the lead at 5-4.
Noppie won the next 2 in 14 and 15 darts to seal his first PDC quarter final since his switch from the BDO this year. Impressive stuff from the Dutchman to overcome and opponent averaging nearly 10 points more.
The Rockstar Joe Cullen defeated Kyle Anderson in a high class affair.
Cullen cruised to a comfortable 3-0 lead. Legs of 14,14 and 11 before Anderson got on the board. 12 and 13 darters extended that lead out to 5-1 before Anderson hit back with a couple of sub 15’s.
The duo hit 8 180’s between them in the match, Anderson opening leg 9 with one, but it wasn’t enouh to stop Cullen clinching the match.
He faces Danny Noppert in the quarters for yet another Semi final on the Euro tour.
