Jonny Clayton won his first European Tour title last Sunday after a stunning weekend for the Pontyberem ace who only was a seed due to the withdrawal of Michael van Gerwen late on. He now has his sights firmly set on further success after adding to his Players Championship title he claimed late last year.

He has also set his target as getting into the top 16 in the world but for him he has even said who knows how far he could go. For Clayton he is also massively looking forward to his World Matchplay debut later this year after securing his spot at the Winter Gardens. “I’d like to have more success on the back of this win,” said Clayton, who came runner-up in last year’s Players Championship Finals losing to Michael van Gerwen. “Last weekend was great for me, I’m so happy to have won my first European Tour title and now I want to add more. “I’ve set myself a target of getting into the top 16, which I am a little bit closer to now but who knows how far I could go.” He then spoke about his World Matchplay debut coming later this year: “I’ve never played in Blackpool at the World Matchplay so I’m really looking forward to that one,” “All the players always say the Winter Gardens stage is awesome to play on so that’s top of my list. “I’m in my fourth year playing in the PDC now, and it’s been a real learning curve.
