Daryl Gurney is through to his first major final to add to his 2 semi-finals in the form of the UK Open and the World Matchplay and will fight tonight for the biggest prize of his career so far which continues his stellar year on the tour that could see the player known as 'Superchin' in the Premier League next year.
He defeated the 'Highlander' John Henderson and ended the Huntly native's almost fairytale run in the tournament after he defeated two of the tournament's favourites Michael van Gerwen and Raymond van Barneveld against the odds and Gurney expressed his delight of getting through but also praised his opponent to the hilt.
"I can't really put it into words but I'm totally over the moon," said Gurney.
"What makes it so hard to play him is that he's such a gentleman - some players you can get angry against to get your game up, but John's is such a nice guy.
"He's such a class act and a super player and I didn't want to give him the chance to come back, so I'm glad I got the winning double."
