Defiant Daryl Gurney hits back at "miserable" claims

Daryl Gurney took to social media to respond to recent claims about his on-stage demeanour.
Grand Prix champion Gurney was publicly criticised by Phil Taylor ahead of their clash at the Grand Slam, which Taylor won. The 16-time world champion laughed off the suggestion that Gurney could be the future of darts, before labelling him "miserable".
Gurney responded on Twitter: "I've said this in interviews a few times, but the reason I look miserable on stage is because I need to keep my heart rate or my darts go haywire."
The Northern Irishman was criticised in some corners for his conduct on stage in Dublin during and after Grand Prix matches against Robert Thornton and Simon Whitlock.
"I celebrate if and when I win. But thanks for all the messages, see you in Minehead," he added. Gurney is the second seed for the Players Championship finals, which begin on Friday in Somerset.
