32 players will participate in the men's tournament of the BDO World Trophy. Lakeside champion Glen Durrant and defending champion Peter Machin have received a wildcard in the draw. The top-16 of the BDO ranking qualify automatically. This also applies to the list leaders of the nine regional rankings. The other five places are filled by winners from a qualifying tournament.
Sixteen players will participate in the ladies tournament. Lakeside champion Lisa Ashton, defending champion Aileen de Graaf and Winmau World Masters champion Lorraine Winstanley are automatically qualified. Two qualifiers and the top 11 in the ranking will be added.
Ashton will start her campaign against Corrine Hammond in a repeat of their World Championship final from 2017, de Graaf will face Maria O'Brien and Winstanley will face off against Paula Jacklin.
