William O'Connor surprisingly took the victory in the latest event
on Tuesday. The Irishman claimed the Players Championship 13 title after defeating Nathan Aspinall in the final.
The likes of Michael van Gerwen, James Wade and Rob Cross are not involved over the course of the two days which has opened the field up ever so slightly. Still the likes of Daryl Gurney, Ian White and a resurgent Raymond van Barneveld will be playing in Barnsley.
Van Barneveld faces a really tough first round test in the form of Krzysztof Ratajski. Also among the ties include Gary Anderson taking on Keegan Brown; as well as Mark McGeeney against Jermaine Wattimena who will be looking to set his stall out for a place on the World Cup of Darts team with Michael van Gerwen if he continues his form.
