BDO darts has finally said a fond farewell to Glen Durrant.

The 48-year-old departs having cemented his status as a giant of the modern game. Durrant's victory at the Lakeside in January made it three BDO World Championship titles on the spin. The two-time World Master, three-time Finder Darts Masters winner and reigning World Trophy champion will now ply his trade in the PDC. Having won through Q-School, Duzza will be aiming to be at the Alexandra Palace come December. Speaking exclusively to the , the Middlesbrough ace explained that he won't be enduring a tearful goodbye. "There's no sadness for leaving. Maybe there should be, but there isn't," he admitted. "That's not being cruel to the BDO, because I've achieved all my dreams because of them. But there's no sadness, it's about moving forward."

Ambitions

As Durrant became more ambitious, the BDO started to struggle to attract viewership. Attendance at the World Trophy in Preston was widely ridiculed, while the World Masters wasn't picked up by any television channel. It was at the latter event that Duzza decided it was time to go.
"All I could do now in the BDO is replicate what I’d done previously.
"I went to the World Masters this year and didn’t particularly want to be there. There wasn’t a big crowd. My adventure is elsewhere now and it’s more exciting to be looking forward than looking back," he said.

New beginning

A tough battle to earn a PDC Tour Card finally ended in success, with Durrant earning a spot . With a new chapter ahead of him, the BDO legend reserved special praise for the organisation he played under for close to 15 years. "I felt that I’d achieved everything I wanted to do in the BDO," hs said. "I never once thought I’d be a BDO world champion, or a world master. "The day I got picked for England, I’d achieved all my dreams. It has just been one success after another thanks to the fantastic organisation that the BDO has been to me."
