The
PDC have released the order of play for the
European Championship, the Euro tour finals.
The finals take place in Hasselt, Belgium, and begin on Thursday evening.
Gerwyn Price gets the honour of opening the event. He plays Belgian Ronny Huybrechts. The prixe the pair will be competing with, a possible showdown with Ronnys brother Kim should he over come Number 4 seed Mensur Suljovic later on that evening.
Simon Whitlock will be the first of the seeded players to take to the stage. The Aussie who made the final of the Grand Prix earlier this month, has found some of the form he entered the PDC with. He plays James Richardson who made the last 16 last year.
The final 2 matches of Thursday's session include 3 world champions and all 4 players are Dutch. Michael van Gerwen enters the Championships as number 1 seed, his opponent will be Jan Dekker in the penultimate match, before Jelle Klassen and Christian Kist duel in the final game of the evening. The winner of which will face Grand Prix semi finalist John Henderson or Auckland darts master Kyle Anderson.
The first round action is completed on Friday afternoon. Players Championships 22 winner Jonny Clayton gets the days play underway against youngster Dimitri van den Bergh. That will be followed by an un-seeded Dave Chisnall vs Cristo Reyes. Another all Dutch affair in van de Pas vs van der Voort will play third, before
Grand Prix champion Gurney takes on the ever present Steve Beaton.
The remaining 4 seeds will close the afternoons play.
Former World Youth Champion Michael Smith takes on a runner up from the same event Nathan Aspinall in game 5. The reward for coming through that one is the victor of van de Pas, van der Voort.
Pro Tour newbie Rob Cross continues his fine debut season having climbed to sixth seed. German youngster Martin Schindler, also in his debut year will be his opponent. That will be followed by Joe Cullen, another to have made the last 16 last year and number 7 seed against former World champion number 5 in this event Stephen Bunting.
Closing out the first round will fall to Peter Wright. He faces a tricky test in Krzysztof Ratajski who played in all but one of the European tour events this year. Ratajksi is also the reigning
