Ted Evetts has claimed a World Championship first round spot after a 5-1 win over
Brendan Dolan sealed victory in the
PDPA qualifiers. Evetts beat Darren Brown, Robbie Green, Ian Moss, Luke Woodhouse, Jeffrey de Graaf,
Chris Quantock and Dolan to claim the win.
Evetts burst into a 2-0 lead after breaking the Dolan throw in the first leg. The Northern Irishman missed darts to hold, and then threw well north of the bull to level matters. 'SuperTed' himself missed the bull to go 3-0 up, but was given a second chance after Dolan drifted into the single 15 when going for double 10, and took the chance with minimal fuss. The outstanding 20-year-old opened the fourth leg with a 180, adding a 162 and a 100 checkout for a 12-darter to go 4-0 up. Evetts missed three darts at double 18 to claim a whitewash, meaning Dolan could steal the fifth leg. The youngster rattled in a 180 to open the sixth leg, and tops was enough to take the title. Top seed Dolan will play Alan Ljubic in the World Championship preliminary round.
Jamie Lewis also qualified for a sixth consecutive World Championships with a 5-3 success over Chris Quantock. The Welshman will take on Kenny Neyens for the right to reach the first round at the Ally Pally.
