Newly crowned world champion Michael van Gerwen heads the line-up for the 2019 Premier League Darts, following the confirmation of the field for the upcoming edition.

PDC Chairman Barry Hearn announced the field for the 2019 Premier League Darts after the World Championship final between Van Gerwen and Michael Smith. Runner-up Smith makes his third appearance in this competition. Raymond van Barneveld was given a final participation in this years Premier League Darts. The legendary Dutchman . Van Barneveld is preferred over Simon Whitlock, who misses this competition as ranked world number nine. Rob Cross, Peter Wright and Gary Anderson received an invitation as the four best players on the PDC Order of Merit qualifies automatically for the Premier League Darts. Besides Van Barneveld and Smith, four other players received a wildcard from PDC and broadcaster Sky Sports to complete the line-up. Daryl Gurney, Gerwyn Price, Mensur Suljovic and James Wade return during the 2019 Premier League Darts. The ten players will face each other once over the first nine weeks, before the bottom two players are eliminated following Judgement Night at Rotterdam Ahoy on Thursday March 28. Rotterdam Ahoy will also host two sold-out league nights for a second successive year, as well as traversing the UK and Ireland over a four-month period. The remaining eight players then meet for a second time in the league before the top four players progress to compete in the Play-Offs at The O2 in London on Thursday May 23. The Premier League Darts will also visit Germany for the second time in 2019, with the Mercedes-Benz Arena in Berlin playing host to the event on Thursday March 21.
