Van Gerwen claimed £207,000 this year in prize money, which was more then the total for his four biggest rivals on the European Order of Merit. Suljovic, Price, White and Cullen had combined earned a total of £206,000.
Peter Wright didn’t have as good of a year as 2017 on the European Tour, and as a result sits down in 9th. Similarly Rob Cross, the World Champion is down in 13th position after this year and is still without a European Tour title.
In terms of the European Championship, all players are seeded this year and will play in seed order. For example Michael van Gerwen in first will take on Paul Nicholson who lies in 32nd place in the first round.
