'It would have been the best Christmas present ever' - Gary Anderson speaks about Paul Lim going close to 9-darter

Gary Anderson coasted through to Round 3 of the World Darts Championship last night after a 4-1 win over the resurgent Paul Lim who at the age of 63 not only got through to the second round but came agonizingly close to a 9-dart finish missing D12 for perfection and also going close to being the only man in history to hit a 9-darter in both code's World Championships.
"Paul Lim is an absolute gentleman and still a classy, classy dart player," said Anderson. "If Paul had got the nine-darter it would have been the best Christmas present ever.
"For Paul to come from the BDO hitting the nine-darter to doing it on this stage would've been brilliant. I thought it was in and when he hit the trebles, I thought he's going to hit this.
"I could have stayed up there all night playing Paul Lim at darts."
Lim added: "I tell you what I can't breath. I'm going to have nightmares tonight I'll tell you that."

- I dont like individuals or crowds trying to put any player off when they are trying to check out, how anyone can think its okay for the crowd to whistle or shout as someone is throwing for a double is beyond me but it does seem to have become part and parcel of the modern game. I no longer play now, darts is as good as dead at a local level round my way but when i did play many years ago, no matter how intense the rivalry you never shouted out or whistled when an opponent from the other team was throwing for a double.Mysstree17-11-2024

If you want to see crowd passion... watch a match when German and Dutch players face off... that can be just as bad if not worse for crowd noises. It happens, I have watched and heard Littler being jeered - Dirk van Duijvenbode in Holland, January this year. Where was your outrage then?
