Gary Anderson coasted through to Round 3 of the
World Darts Championship last night after a 4-1 win over the resurgent
Paul Lim who at the age of 63 not only got through to the second round but came agonizingly close to a 9-dart finish missing D12 for perfection and also going close to being the only man in history to hit a 9-darter in both code's World Championships.
"Paul Lim is an absolute gentleman and still a classy, classy dart player," said Anderson. "If Paul had got the nine-darter it would have been the best Christmas present ever.
"For Paul to come from the BDO hitting the nine-darter to doing it on this stage would've been brilliant. I thought it was in and when he hit the trebles, I thought he's going to hit this.
"I could have stayed up there all night playing Paul Lim at darts."
Lim added: "I tell you what I can't breath. I'm going to have nightmares tonight I'll tell you that."
