First on the bill are Joe Cullen and Darius Labanaukas, who performed well in the first round against Jeffrey de Graaf. Reigning Gibraltar Darts Trophy champion Michael Smith then enters the fray. He takes on fellow quick thrower Jermaine Wattimena in a match that may well pass by in a flash. The
PDC world champion, Rob Cross, hasn't had much
European Tour success to date. He can change that in Gibraltar. First he needs to beat Iberian ace Cristo Reyes, who squeaked through a thriller against Robert Thornton yesterday.
Then comes arguably the tie of the night, and a meeting between good friends. Michael van Gerwen and Vincent van der Voort might have hoped to meet later in the tournament. But here they are, with a third round match against Andy Boulton available to only one of them. Paul Nicholson cruised through the first round. Beating Dave Chisnall will most likely be a tougher prospect. Then comes a mammoth clash between last year's beaten finalist, Mensur Suljovic, and Adrian Lewis.
Chris Dobey was excellent in a 6-2 first round win over Steve Lennon. His reward is a meeting with Mervyn King. And in the final game of the second round, Peter Wright meets Michael Barnard. All eight ties are live on PDC TV, with the coverage beginning at 6.15pm.
