Gurney on taking out 101 to defeat Poland: ‘It was such a great feeling’

Daryl Gurney and Brendan Dolan produced a stunning fight back from 4-2 down to defeat Poland 5-4 on the second night of the World Cup of Darts in Frankfurt.
Gurney lead the way in the comeback and took out 101 to complete the victory against two quality players in Tytus Kanik & Krzysztof Ratajski who looked good. ‘Superchin’ spoke afterwards and said it was a great feeling to take out the 101 but sdmits that after surviving a scare he wants to perform better in the rest of the tournament. “We kept on fighting to stay in the game and it was such a great feeling to take out the 101 at the end,” said Gurney. “In the last leg I said to myself ‘if Brendan hits a 140 I will take out the 101’ and sure enough that’s what I did. “In that situation you really don’t want to let down your partner but we got the win, and now we want to play better in the rest of the tournament and go a long way.” For more information on the World Cup of Darts click .

- I dont like individuals or crowds trying to put any player off when they are trying to check out, how anyone can think its okay for the crowd to whistle or shout as someone is throwing for a double is beyond me but it does seem to have become part and parcel of the modern game. If you want to see crowd passion... watch a match when German and Dutch players face off... that can be just as bad if not worse for crowd noises. - It happens. Remember, anyone who has watched German and Dutch players in matches - their respective countries will have seen/heard just as bad jeering (if not worse). - Was watching an old World Masters final the other day between Eric Bristow and John Lowe, the crowd respect for both players on throw was first class, not a sound. You can imagine now the idiots who were whistling on De Deckers throw proudly boasting about it on social media. I blame the PDC to a certain extent though doubt they really care as they win regardless of which player wins or loses.Mysstree16-11-2024
