Huybrechts confident after first round victory: “We’ve got a real chance of doing some damage”

Kim Huybrechts teamed with Dimitri van den Bergh for the first time last night at the World Cup of Darts. They dispatched Ireland in a thriller.
After going 3-0 down, the team didn’t panick and pulled it back before it went to a decider. Huybrechts himself called it an all time classic World Cup game and that as expected they were given a tough test. Kim has teamed with brother Ronny throughout his spell in the World Cup team and despite it being obviously different, Huybrechts spoke of Dimitri as being one of the best in the world. “I think it was an all-time classic World Cup game,” said Huybrechts. “Before the draw was made we knew Ireland was one of the teams we wanted to avoid and they gave us a hard game as we knew they would. “Obviously it’s different for me this year playing with Dimitri but he is one of the best players in the world – a future world star. “If we can play to our best level then we’ve got a real chance of doing some damage here.” For more information on the World Cup of Darts click .

- I dont like individuals or crowds trying to put any player off when they are trying to check out, how anyone can think its okay for the crowd to whistle or shout as someone is throwing for a double is beyond me but it does seem to have become part and parcel of the modern game. If you want to see crowd passion... watch a match when German and Dutch players face off... that can be just as bad if not worse for crowd noises. - It happens. Remember, anyone who has watched German and Dutch players in matches - their respective countries will have seen/heard just as bad jeering (if not worse). - Was watching an old World Masters final the other day between Eric Bristow and John Lowe, the crowd respect for both players on throw was first class, not a sound. You can imagine now the idiots who were whistling on De Deckers throw proudly boasting about it on social media. I blame the PDC to a certain extent though doubt they really care as they win regardless of which player wins or loses.Mysstree16-11-2024
