Daryl Gurney achieved his destiny by defeating Simon Whitlock to win the World Grand Prix yesterday. The Northern Irishman became only one of two to reach the final of the double start tournament but made good on this opportunity to win his first major title to continue a brilliant year for 'Superchin' and afterwards he had a few words on winning it.
"I'm lost for words - I can't believe it, I really can't," said Gurney. "It feels better than anything else I've ever felt in my life. Dreams do come true and this is a dream.
"I wanted to come up here tonight and play my best game but giving Simon the first set got me more determined. I still had the belief in my that I could come back when I was 2-0 down."
