Stoke's number one powered to the title in Barnsley. White defeated Martin Schindler, Ted Evetts, Steve Lennon, Bradley Brooks, before a semi-final win over Steve Beaton. That set up a final against Darren Webster. The Diamond quickly established a 4-1 lead before rounding off a 6-3 success.
It marks White's second title of 2018, and victory marked a very positive step for the now five-time Players Championship winner.
“I’m delighted with the win and how I played overall today,” White told
PDC TV.
The current world number 14 showed plenty of faith in his ability, even counting himself among the world's best floor players.
“I had a year without winning a title last year but I’m playing good darts all the time and I’d say I’m in the top five on the floor," he said.
“Now I need to replicate that form on TV, but the main thing for me is to keep enjoying it and playing well.”
