The International Darts Open 2017 will come to an end in Riesa this evening. The 11th Euro Tour event could see a first time winner this year with only Peter Wright remaining who has won one this year. It is Peter Wright who kicks off proceedings tonight facing multiple Euro Tour finalist this year Jelle Klaasen who won't have to get past Michael van Gerwen like he usually would to win the title.
Klaasen is finally returning to some kind of form after wrist surgery meant his form went down hill but if your a top 10 player like Jelle you can't afford time off. If either man wins they will face either Nordic and Baltic qualifier Dennis Nilsson who has impressed this weekend beating Steve Beaton, Daryl Gurney and Dave Chisnall 3 of the most inform players this year or Ron Meulenkamp who has returned losing lots of weight and showing some form dispatching Josh Payne to get to this stage. Both are unseeded and dangerous.
In the other half are 4 seeds, first of all Gerwyn Price and Kim Huybrechts, two players who are very much for celebrating and on stage antics as it showed during games with Mensur Suljovic and Ian White today which they came through and if they win they know that they will face either Joe Cullen who is finally showing consistency throwing some great averages or Simon Whitlock who is ever reliable.
No matter what happens we are in for a great evening of darts in Riesa.
