James Wade and Gary Anderson among players defending most ranking money in 2018

James Wade and Gary Anderson are two of the players who are defending the most ranking money this year. This has been revealed in recent statistics released by Christopher Kempf also known as Ochepedia.
Wade will defend 69% of his Order of Merit money this year. If current form is anything to go by, he could be in massive trouble come the end of the year. 'The Machine' will need to potentially find an extra gear.
Also defending a high amount of his Order of Merit total is Gary Anderson. 'The Flying Scotsman' though should do well in defending it due to his high ranking position and ability to turn it on. But, could do without early exits again in tournaments such as the UK Open and the Players Championship Finals.
Michael van Gerwen is on a similar amount in terms of defending his money but unless he massively goes down in form. He will continue to win majors and defend his ranking money which stands at a staggering amount.
Other notable names include Benito van de Pas, Dave Chisnall and Alan Norris who all could find themselves having a fall if they have poor years. It will be interesting to see how the Order of Merit pans out come the end of the season.

- Maybe the supposed top players are burnt out from the endless travelling and tournaments, I just don't think they have the dedication or outright desire to win. I think they are more interested in the money and being popular, just keeping their rankings steady. The only thing that mattered to Phil Taylor was winning, not winning a few games to top up the money pot and seeking the fans attention. Maybe there is too many tournaments now and the enthusiasm is gone. This year especially has seen so many different winners and unexpected draws and line ups.richieburnettrocks14-11-2024
