Kevin Munch will face Adrian Lewis in tonight's final match after defeating Aleksandr Oreshkin in straight sets.
The German, who came through the German Qualifiers, started brightly. Taking the first set to nil. A 13 dart leg eased Munch into the match, before breaking the quirky Russian's throw in 16. Munch rounded off the set with a 15 darter, and a 108 finish.
Much tailed off in the second set, his average dropping from the 102 of the first set, down to a match ending 84.
That allowed Oreshkin to get a leg on the board in leg 2, finally clinching the double on dart number 24. Oreshkin's only leg a break of throw. As if often said, a break isn't a break without a hold, and Munch responded by taking the next 2 legs. The decider in 19 after missing 6 match darts.
Munch will now have to regroup before facing former 2 time world champion Adrian Lewis for a spot in the second round. Should he play to his ability, Lewis will have a tough game on his hands.
