2x World Champion, Gary Anderson had a stern test ahead of him in the form of recent Pro Tour winner Kyle Anderson in the battle of the Andersons.
It was Gary who started out the best in a brilliant first leg with Gary taking out 138 to hold his throw and make it 1-0 and Kyle hit back with a D18 for a 13 darter to make it 1-1. Kyle followed that up with a 64 checkout to break Gary's throw and make it 2-1 and he hit D5 for a 3-1 lead against the defending champion.
Gary roared back and broke the Kyle Anderson through with a 55 checkout to make it 3-2 to the Aussie. Kyle though continued on and held his throw hitting D3 for a 4-2 lead and Gary then held his throw to be 4-3 behind. Kyle had the all important break and with Gary wiring D15 for a 150 checkout,
Kyle hit tops to go within 1 and Gary held in the following leg with a 100 checkout meaning Kyle had to take it out on his own throw or a decider would be forced. Kyle hit D8 first dart to knock the defending champion Gary Anderson out in the following leg 6-4 for a big win!

In the last match of the session, we have Peter Wright, the UK Open Champion taking on World Youth Champion Corey Cadby who last year of course beat Taylor in Perth and came close to beating Wright in the following round.
Cadby in the first leg hit a 180 but then faltered on the doubles handing Wright the first leg and a first break in the match but Cadby hit back in the second leg taking out 60 to break straight back and he continued his upward curve holding with a 32 checkout. Wright though stole the following leg with Cadby missing 5 darts at double meaning there was parity.
This didn't effect the World Youth Champion who hit a 78 checkout to lead 3-2, careless throwing though from Cadby in the following leg allowed Wright to pinch another leg for 3-3.
Wright followed this up with a break of throw to make it 4-3 but again Cadby was back and hit D20 for parity again and followed this up with a 112 checkout to go 1 away from an upset and then he finished it off on D16 for a big win!
