Daniel Larsson pulled off a brilliant victory in Tuesday’s afternoon session against former multiple major champion Robert Thornton and afterwards he admitted that he might be not in the game for much longer.
Larsson spoke to Live Darts after the match was completed and said due to his wife’s pregnancy he will take time off to look after his family after previously harbouring Q-School ambitions.
Straight after his win though he summed it up as three superlatives which tell the story after his big win over Thornton. “I’m feeling really good, terrific and fantastic.” said Larsson as the superlatives to sum up his performance.
On whether he was afraid of it going to a final set due to Thornton’s experience, he said he was the opposite and felt confident. “I wasn’t that afraid of it, I felt confident. Of course I don’t want that to happen, if it would happen I would have to deal with it but I was so confident so I didn’t care."
He was asked due to his win whether he is targeting Q-School like previously mentioned in the New Year and he spoke about his girlfriend having a baby and as a result him stepping down from darts.
“I was aiming for Q-School, now me and my girlfriend are having a baby in April so I will actually step down from darts.”
Finally on his second round opponent, Kim Huybrechts he said that he is not sure what to expect but knows he will have to hit a lot of 180’s and be great on his doubles. “Not sure, I think I have to hit a lot of 180’s and I have to hit the doubles.”
